The United Nations Sustainable Stock Exchanges Initiative (UN SSE) is a UN partnership program established in 2009 by the UN Secretary-General and co-organized by UNCTAD, the UN Global Compact, UNEP FI, and the Principles for Responsible Investment (PRI). The initiative provides a global peer-to-peer platform for stock exchanges, regulators, investors, and listed companies to enhance ESG transparency and encourage sustainable capital market practices. Through technical guidance, research, policy dialogue, and educational programs like the UN SSE Academy, it supports financial markets in implementing ESG disclosures and financing the UN Sustainable Development Goals.
