About
Terrence A. Duffy is an American business executive who serves as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of CME Group, the world's largest derivatives marketplace. Beginning his career as a floor trader in the Chicago Mercantile Exchange hog pit in 1980, he founded TDA Trading in 1981 before joining the CME board of directors in 1995. Named Chairman in 2002, Duffy oversaw CME's transition to a public company and orchestrated major industry consolidations, including mergers with the Chicago Board of Trade, NYMEX, and NEX Group. Beyond exchange leadership, he previously served on the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board following appointment by President George W. Bush.
