Rajnath Singh is an Indian politician and former physics lecturer who serves as the 29th Minister of Defence of India and Deputy Leader of the House in the Lok Sabha. A veteran leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), he previously served as Union Minister of Home Affairs from 2014 to 2019 and as Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh from 2000 to 2002. He also served as the National President of the BJP during 2005–2009 and 2013–2014.
