Edward Crosby 'Ned' Johnson III was an American corporate executive who led Fidelity Investments as President, Chairman, and CEO, building it into one of the largest financial services firms in the world. He began his career at Fidelity as a research analyst in 1957, managed the legendary Fidelity Magellan Fund from 1963 to 1977, and assumed executive leadership in 1972. Under his guidance, Fidelity introduced check writing on money market funds and pioneered discount brokerage operations. He retired in December 2016, handing the chairmanship to his daughter Abigail Johnson, and passed away in March 2022.
