Catherine Martina Ann Connolly is an Irish politician serving as the President of Ireland, taking office on 11 November 2025. She previously represented the Galway West constituency as an independent Teachta Dála from 2016 to 2025 and served as the first female Leas-Cheann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann from 2020 to 2024. Prior to her national legislative career, Connolly worked as a clinical psychologist and a practicing barrister, and served as Mayor of Galway from 2004 to 2005.
Elected President of Ireland in 2025 with 914,143 first-preference votes, the largest personal mandate in Irish political history.
