James Bruce Flatt is a Canadian business executive who has served as CEO of Brookfield Corporation since 2002. He joined Brookfield's predecessor company, Brascan, in 1990 and eventually led Brookfield Properties during its response to the September 11, 2001 attacks in Lower Manhattan. Under his management, Brookfield expanded significantly to become the second-largest alternative asset manager globally, including through its 2019 majority acquisition of Oaktree Capital Management.
