About
OKeh Records was established in 1918 by German-American manager Otto Heinemann through the Otto Heinemann Phonograph Corporation. The label became famous in the 1920s for its pioneering race records, remote location recordings, and iconic jazz releases, including Louis Armstrong's Hot Five and Hot Seven sessions. After subsequent acquisitions by Columbia Records, ARC, CBS, and Epic, OKeh currently functions as a specialized jazz imprint distributed by Sony Masterworks.
